Facebook Advertisers Get to Stalk You

The problem with the latest stealth demotion (and, of course, exploitation) of members' private data (now including address and phone number) is not that the data is now for sale, it's that the entire (social) graph is now available to paying advertisers, creating a truly transparent advertising target.

The problem with this new “private data for sale” scheme is not that it was introduced stealthily, it's that this covert greed and selling members to the highest bidder is a continuum in facebooks dealings

Whether this happens under the auspices of the vampire squid or not, fact is that members are increasingly seen as advertising leads first and foremost.

Everyone should now be advised to urgently remove all personal data from facebook because once you're on facebook your personal information is not.
